What a Health Check-Up Really Costs in Bangkok
Published check-up prices at Bumrungrad, Samitivej, BNH, Vejthani and others, what the cheapest and dearest packages include, and what research says about routine checks.
The cheapest hospital check-up in Bangkok costs about ฿3,500. The dearest costs more than twenty times that. Between them sit dozens of packages at Bumrungrad, Samitivej, BNH, Vejthani and Bangkok Hospital, and the names (Basic, Executive, Holistic) tell you little about what you are buying.
This guide sets out what the hospitals publish, what the main tiers include, and who gets the discounted price. It ends with what a large body of research says about routine check-ups, because the price is only half the question.
How we chose
We used each hospital’s own package pages and brochures wherever they loaded, and we give the date or validity period shown. We left out clinics that publish no prices. Packages change often, and many headline prices are promotions with end dates, so treat every figure as a starting point for a written quote.

The cheap end: basic panels
At ฿3,500 to ฿7,500, a basic check-up is a blood and urine panel with a doctor’s review. The Thailand Starter Kit guide compares three hospitals’ basic package for men under 30: Vejthani at ฿4,900, Bangkok Hospital at ฿5,400 and Samitivej at ฿7,500. That guide does not date those figures, so confirm them.
BNH lists a shared core panel across its annual packages: blood count, fasting glucose, HbA1c, lipids, liver and kidney function, uric acid, vitamin D, thyroid hormone, urine, ECG, chest X-ray and body composition. Bookings need two days’ notice.
The middle: age-banded packages
Samitivej Srinakarin sells annual check-ups by age and sex, from ฿6,000 for a man under 30 to ฿39,000 for a man over 60 at promotion prices. Bumrungrad’s comprehensive packages run from ฿16,300 to ฿34,000 by sex and age.
Bumrungrad says its comprehensive tier covers a physical exam and blood panels for glucose, lipids, liver, kidney, thyroid and hepatitis. It also lists vitamins B12 and D, urine and stool tests, an ECG, chest X-ray, abdominal ultrasound and an eye exam. Women’s versions add a mammogram and Pap test unless the package says otherwise.
The top: executive and “holistic” tiers
Executive, vitality and holistic packages add stress testing, bone density, hearing tests and hormone panels. At Bumrungrad they run from about ฿22,800 to ฿75,000, and cancer panels with gene testing reach ฿72,900 for men and ฿85,900 for women.
BNH’s top packages add imaging. Its Lungs Focus package includes a low-dose chest CT, and Advanced Heart adds a heart CT calcium score. The Total Heart & Lungs Plus Brain option adds a brain MRI and, the hospital says, takes eight to ten hours.
The catch for visitors
Samitivej’s promotional prices are open to Thai nationals and foreigners residing in Thailand only. If you are visiting, expect the regular price, which runs from about 1.5 to 2.1 times the promotion price across the packages listed. Bumrungrad’s page says its package prices are for patients paying the hospital directly, with no further discounts, and valid until 31 December 2026.
Residents have one extra option. Vejthani lists work-permit medical certificate packages from ฿1,200 to ฿3,000, valid until 31 December 2026.
What the evidence says
A Cochrane review of general health checks pooled 17 randomised trials. Fifteen reported results, covering 251,891 people. Inviting people to routine checks made no measurable difference to total deaths (relative risk 1.00), cancer deaths (1.01) or cardiovascular deaths (1.05). The authors rated the evidence high certainty for the first two and moderate for the third.
The authors concluded general checks are unlikely to be beneficial and may lead to unnecessary tests and treatments. The review covers general check-ups offered to people without symptoms. It does not judge individual screening programmes, such as cervical or bowel screening, which are assessed separately.
For a buyer, the practical reading is simple. A package is a snapshot, not protection. A more expensive tier adds tests, not certainty about your health, so ask your own doctor which ones suit your age and history.
Accreditation, checked
Bumrungrad publishes a Joint Commission International certificate covering 2 December 2023 to 1 December 2026. Vejthani’s website calls itself JCI accredited. Bangkok Hospital Headquarters’ page lists its sixth JCI accreditation as running from 18 February 2023 to 17 February 2026, so check JCI’s current listing before relying on it.
Samitivej’s group page says it holds JCI accreditation but does not name the hospitals or dates. Ask which site and which year. We have not ranked hospitals on outcomes, because none publishes comparable ones.
