The Best Spa Hotels in Chiang Mai: Prices and What to Know
Four hotel spas in Chiang Mai compared on published starting prices, setting and signature Lanna treatments, plus cheaper options when a five-star bill is too much.
Chiang Mai has spas on almost every street, but a handful sit inside hotels where the setting is part of the treatment. Along the Ping River in Chang Khlan and in the green valley of Mae Rim, you can pair a Lanna massage with a long afternoon by the garden.
This guide compares four hotel spas with published starting prices. They are Wara Cheewa at the Four Seasons, the spa at Anantara Chiang Mai Resort, The ii Spa at InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping, and Ai Waan Spa at Raya Heritage. We have not visited them. Prices and details come from Time Out Chiang Mai’s spa list, dated 10 April 2026, plus each hotel’s own material where we could read it.
How we chose
We kept spas that sit inside a named hotel, that a recent independent list covers, and that state a starting price for a 60-minute or longer treatment. Time Out says its writers visited the spas on its list. We did not rank them, because the four serve different budgets and moods.
At a glance
| Hotel spa | Area | Starting price | Hours | Known for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wara Cheewa, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai | Mae Rim | ฿5,500 for 60 minutes | 9am–9pm | Hydro-thermal journey, stilted spa pavilion |
| Anantara Chiang Mai Resort Spa | Chang Khlan, riverside | ฿1,500 for 60 minutes; packages from ฿4,400 | 10am–10pm | Yam khang fire massage |
| The ii Spa, InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping | Chang Khlan | ฿2,400 for 60 minutes | 10am–10pm | Lanna signature massage, reopened 2025 |
| Ai Waan Spa, Raya Heritage | Mae Rim | ฿2,300 for 75 minutes | 10am–10pm | Small, open to non-guests |
Prices are as reported by Time Out in April 2026. Hotels usually add service charge and tax, so confirm the total before you book.
Wara Cheewa at the Four Seasons
Time Out calls Wara Cheewa the most high-end spa in the city. It sits in a wooden complex on stilts above the resort gardens at 502 Moo 1, Old Road, Mae Rim.
The writers describe a hydro-thermal journey that starts with a private herbal steam room, moves to a body scrub, and ends with a Vichy shower, where warm water falls from overhead pipes. A Thai massage follows. Treatments start at ฿5,500 for 60 minutes.
This is the spa for a single big day rather than a regular habit. Book ahead, because a spa of this size seldom takes walk-ins.
Anantara Chiang Mai Resort Spa
Anantara sits on the riverside at 123 Charoen Prathet Road in Chang Khlan. Time Out highlights yam khang, a northern Thai fire massage. Therapists dip a foot in herbal oil and press it on a heated blade, and Time Out says it is the only place in the city that offers it.
The hotel’s own spa menu is older than the Time Out list. A January 2022 menu gives a 60-minute Thai herbal compress at ฿2,500, a 30-minute Thai herbal steam at ฿1,500 and a 200-minute signature journey at ฿7,900. Those prices exclude 10% service charge and government tax, and they have probably moved since.
Time Out’s April 2026 figure of ฿1,500 for 60 minutes is lower than anything on that menu, so ask which treatment it covers. Time Out also suggests checking Anantara’s social media for low-season offers.
The ii Spa at InterContinental
The ii Spa reopened in 2025 after a refurbishment, according to Time Out. Its gold, black and red colour scheme nods to the fire used in hong mor muang, the traditional northern Thai healing practice.
The signature Lanna massage combines three parts: tok sen, a northern Thai tapping massage, a Thai herbal ball compress and a Thai massage, all with an orange-scented oil. The reviewers add that the spa also offers Swedish oil massage and help with “office syndrome”, the Thai name for desk-related aches. Treatments start at ฿2,400 for 60 minutes, at 153 Sridonchai Road.
Ai Waan Spa at Raya Heritage
Raya Heritage has 38 suites on three levels in gardens beside the Ping River, according to the hotel. It is about 30 minutes from Chiang Mai International Airport and 20 minutes from the old city temples, and the hotel runs a complimentary shuttle to the old town.
Ai Waan is the smallest of the four, with two treatment rooms and a Thai herbal steam room. Time Out says it is open to non-guests. The menu centres on traditional Thai body scrubs, tok sen and herbal ball treatments, plus bamboo massage. Treatments start at ฿2,300 for 75 minutes, at 157 Don Kaeo, Mae Rim.
What we could not confirm
The Four Seasons and Raya Heritage pages that would hold room rates and current spa menus did not load for us. We did not find reliable room rates for any of the four hotels, so we give none. Whether the other three spas take non-guests is not stated in the sources we read, so ask when you book.
Timing matters too. Time Out wrote its list in the burning season, when smoke can make time indoors appealing. A spa day is a pleasant answer to haze, but it does not clean the air. Our PM2.5 guide shows which months are clearer.
Cheaper options
If a hotel price stretches the budget, Time Out’s list includes lower-priced spas in town. These are starting prices for 60 minutes unless noted.
- Heart N Soul Massage, Suthep Road: from ฿350, with a herbal steam for ฿350
- Sense Hot Spring, Mae On: from ฿450, with packages including onsen from ฿1,000
- Fah Lanna Spa, Old City: from ฿800, with packages from ฿1,600

A small intention for the day: choose one treatment you can name, and let the rest of the afternoon be unplanned.
